Sweet Temptation
A williamsii × reticulata cross from Camellia Forest Nursery with intense bright rose-red singles and good cold resistance — combining three species' best traits.
Originated and released by Camellia Forest Nursery of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, from a cross of C. × williamsii 'William's Lavender' with C. reticulata 'Purple Gown' — effectively combining saluenensis vigor, japonica hardiness, and reticulata flower size. The large single flowers in intense bright rose-red feature a prominent yellow stamen cluster. Growth is upright with good branching, and notably good cold resistance — unusual for a reticulata-influenced hybrid. Listed locally as 'Sweet Temptation' and registered as 'Scarlet Temptation.'
