Mrs. Lyman Clark

Purchased as an unnamed seedling at a variety store — the humblest origin story in the collection, yielding a deep rose peony with seamlessly blended color gradients.
Perhaps the most unlikely origin story in the collection: originally purchased as an unnamed seedling at a variety store by Mrs. Lyman Clarke of Princess Anne, Virginia. The large peony-form flowers of 10 to 12.5 cm display deep rose on the petal edges blending seamlessly into white at the base — 'no veins, lines or stripes between the shades as they blend into each other,' with clusters of stamens throughout. Growth is medium and compact, blooming mid-season to late. First described by Glennan in the American Camellia Yearbook (1946). Listed locally as 'Mrs. Lyman Clark' and registered as 'Mrs Lyman Clarke.' Source: International Camellia Register.
