C.M. Gordy

C.M. Gordy
A large deep pink Ocala seedling with creped, ruffled petals and stamens that splay dramatically to the petal edges.
Originated by C.M. and Lillian Gordy of Ocala, Florida, this ten-year seedling of unknown parentage first flowered in 2008. The large flowers — nearly 13 centimeters across — display deep pink with distinctively creped and ruffled petals, while stamens with gold anthers and cream filaments splay outward to the petal edges, creating a dramatic starburst effect. Heavy petal texture and the habit of dropping spent flowers whole add to its garden merit. Propagated by Loch Laurel Nursery of Valdosta, Georgia. Published with a color photograph in the ACS Camellia Journal (December 2013). Source: International Camellia Register.
