Winter's Interlude
A cold-hardy C. oleifera × C. sinensis hybrid from Dr. Ackerman's USDA breeding program — twelve petals and seventy-six petaloids in pink anemone form.
Originated by Dr. William L. Ackerman of Ashton, Maryland — a USDA plant geneticist whose 'Winter's' series of cold-hardy camellia hybrids extended the genus's range into colder climates. This cross of C. oleifera (the cold-hardy oil-tea camellia) with C. sinensis (the tea plant) produces anemone-form flowers with twelve petals and seventy-six petaloids in pink. Growth is upright, dense, and of medium rate. First published in the American Camellia Yearbook. Source: International Camellia Register.
