Satsuma Kernai
A Chinese reticulata with a carmine-red formal double, documented by Macoboy in 1981 as originating from China.
Identified by Macoboy (1981) in The Colour Dictionary of Camellias as a C. reticulata from China. The medium to large formal double flowers display carmine red, flowering mid-season. Known under the Chinese synonym 'Samohong.' Also documented in Ferreira and Celina's O Mundo da Camélia (2000). Listed locally as 'Satsuma Kernai' and registered as 'Satsuma-kurenai.'
