Mrs. D.W. Davis
One of the most famous mid-century American japonicas — a seven-year Florida seedling whose very large pink blooms and vigorous habit set the standard for exhibition camellias.
Originated by D.W. Davis of Seffner, Florida, as a seven-year seedling, this cultivar became one of the most celebrated mid-century American japonicas. The very large pink semi-double flowers with fifteen petals on vigorous upright growth set a benchmark for size and substance. Growth is rapid and open with large, dark green leaves. Has been used extensively as a parent, producing notable offspring. Received RHS recognition. First published in the American Camellia Yearbook. Source: International Camellia Register.
