One of the most widely propagated sasanquas in the world, grown under at least a dozen synonyms across Japan, Australia, and China.
Among the most globally distributed sasanquas, grown under at least twelve names across Japan, Australia, and China — including 'Hiryu' (Australia), 'Utamakura,' 'Kankobai,' and the Chinese synonym 'Kancilang.' The large semi-double flowers in deep rose shading to red at the petal margins make a bold autumn display. First published in Takii & Co.'s Engei Shinchishiki (1954). Featured in the International Camellia Society's 2023 publication Splendid Sasanquas, an International Ornament. Listed locally as 'Kanjiro Var.' and registered as 'Kanjirō.'
