Hana Jiman

Hana Jiman
A large red-striped-white Japanese sasanqua registered in 1905 — over a century in continuous cultivation across three continents.
Registered in 1905 from the Kaitsu-en nursery's Chabaika Meikan, this sasanqua has been in continuous cultivation for over a century. Descriptions vary: the original Japanese listing notes white stripes on red; Wada's 1941 English listing describes it as red striped with white; Satomi's 1958 Japanese nomenclature gives pink shaded white with deeper pink margins. The large semi-double flowers have been extensively photographed in major references including Macoboy's Colour Dictionary and the Encyclopedia of Camellias in Colour. Also known by the Chinese synonym 'Huaziman.' Source: International Camellia Register.
