Cleo Akins

A fifteen-year Georgia seedling with dark red semi-double blooms featuring eighteen petals and yellow anthers.
Originated by Johnny Aldrich of Brooklet, Georgia, this patient fifteen-year seedling was registered in 1989. The dark red semi-double flowers feature eighteen petals and three petaloids with yellow anthers and light pink filaments — the pink filaments providing a subtle color accent against the deep red petals. Growth is upright at medium rate with dark green foliage. First published in the American Camellia Yearbook. Listed locally as 'Cleo Akins' and registered as 'Cleo Atkins.'
