A white-streaked-red-and-pink semi-double originated by Shepp — vigorous loose upright growth, with a sport called 'Catherine McCowan.'
First listed in the 1942 SCCS Classification of Camellias (as 'Mrs Elenor McCowan') and more fully described in the 1950 SCCS nomenclature: white streaked red and pink, large semi-double, vigorous, loose, upright growth, mid-season flowering. Originated by Shepp in the USA. Has produced a sport, 'Catherine McCowan.' Illustrated with a color photograph in Macoboy's 1981 Colour Dictionary of Camellias. Known under several orthographic variants. Listed locally as 'Eleanor McKoon' and registered as 'Eleanor McCown.' Source: International Camellia Register.
