Diddy's Pink Organdie

Diddy's Pink Organdie
A sport of 'Diddy Mealing' with dawn-pink-to-light-pink petals edged in white — a three-tone gradient effect documented in color across four major publications.
Originated by Dr. H.G. Mealing of Augusta, Georgia, as a sport of 'Diddy Mealing,' this cultivar displays one of the most delicate color gradients in the japonica world: dawn pink at the petal base blending to light pink toward the edge and finished with a white border — the 'organdie' of the name evoking the sheer translucency of the petals. Documented with color illustrations in the 1970 American Camellia Yearbook, Macoboy's 1981 Colour Dictionary of Camellias, and the 1978 Encyclopedia of Camellias in Colour. Mid-season flowering.
