Look Away
A fragrant sport of the historic 'Herme' (Hikarugenji) — white with carmine red stripes, named by McCaskill in 1938 and also known as 'Fragrant Striped.'
One of the many sports of the historic 'Herme' (Hikarugenji) — one of the most prolific sport-producing japonicas. Named by Vern O. McCaskill of Pasadena, California, in 1938 and also known as 'Fragrant Striped,' this mutation displays white ground with carmine red stripes and flecks and is notably fragrant — a trait inherited from the Hikarugenji lineage. Documented in Hertrich's 1954 Camellias in the Huntington Gardens and Fendig's 1953 American Camellia Catalogue. Listed locally as 'Look Away' and registered as 'Colonial Lady.'
