Yo Machi

Yo Machi
A rare sasanqua × fraterna cross by Dr. Clifford Parks — combining two seldom-hybridized species to produce a seven-petaled red single.
Originated by Dr. Clifford Parks of Chapel Hill, North Carolina — one of the most accomplished camellia hybridizers of the twentieth century — this thirteen-year seedling represents a rare cross between C. sasanqua and C. fraterna, two species seldom combined in deliberate hybridization. The red single flowers feature seven petals with yellow anthers and cream filaments on upright, dense growth at medium rate. The Japanese name translates to 'evening town.' Listed locally as 'Yo Machi' and registered as 'Yoimachi.' Source: International Camellia Register.
