Mrs. R.L. Wheeler
A seventy-two-petal formal double from Macon, Georgia — one of the highest petal counts among japonicas, with distinctive yellow-margined leaves.
Originated by Wheeler of Macon, Georgia, this chance seedling produces formal double blooms with an extraordinary seventy-two petals in pink variegation — one of the highest petal counts recorded among japonicas. The open, upright growth features an unusual characteristic: some leaves display a yellow margin, adding foliage interest beyond the already impressive flowers. A stalwart of the mid-twentieth-century Southern camellia breeding tradition that made Macon a center of japonica culture. Source: International Camellia Register.
