Koto-No-Kori

Koto-No-Kori
A richly fragrant red single hybrid of C. japonica 'Tōkai' × C. lutchuensis — bred for scent, with campanulate blooms and tubular stamens.
A deliberately bred fragrance hybrid crossing C. japonica 'Tōkai' with C. lutchuensis — the latter being a small-flowered species prized for its intense sweet scent. The small campanulate single flowers with 6 to 7 petals in red display tubular stamens and carry the rich fragrance inherited from the lutchuensis parent. Named by Tokuji Ōoka in 1977 and released by Kaoru Hagiya of Niigata Prefecture, Japan. Listed locally as 'Koto-No-Kori' and registered as 'Koto-no-kaori.' Source: International Camellia Register.
