Turnadot
A large red peony from Camellia Forest Nursery with notably hardy flower buds — named for Puccini's opera heroine.
Originated and released by Camellia Forest Nursery of Chapel Hill, North Carolina — one of the premier specialty camellia nurseries in the eastern United States. The large peony-form flowers in medium red bloom mid-season to late on upright growth with broad leaves. Notably, the flower buds are described as very hardy — a significant virtue in areas prone to late freezes. Named for the title character of Puccini's opera. Listed locally as 'Turnadot' and registered as 'Turandot.' Source: International Camellia Register.
