Optical Illusion

Middleton Place No. 30 — a shell-pink semi-double from one of America's oldest landscaped gardens, introduced through Gerbing's Azalea Gardens in 1941.
Originated at Middleton Place, South Carolina — among the oldest landscaped gardens in America, established in 1741. Catalogued as 'Middleton No. 30' and introduced commercially through Gerbing's Azalea Gardens (1941–1942) as 'a new Camellia from Middleton Place.' The shell-pink semi-double flowers measure 8 to 10 cm, appearing late in the season. Foliage is large, round, and medium green on tall growth. Listed locally as 'Optical Illusion' and registered as 'Lovely Illusion.' Source: International Camellia Register.
