Raised from a self-pollinated flower of the legendary 'Donation' at Trewithen, the celebrated garden of G.H. Johnstone in Cornwall, England, from a cross made in 1950. The semi-double flowers measure 8.5 cm with twenty to twenty-five petals that vary sharply between light and dark shades of rhodamine pink (HCC 527-527/1), with a small central cluster of some petaloid stamens. Received the RHS Award of Merit in February 1962. Also known by the Chinese synonym 'Guidao.' Listed locally as 'Glen's Orbit.' Source: International Camellia Register.
